Premium 10-Frame Ideal Timber Box – Unassembled

Prepare a shallow 10-frame honey super using premium flat-pack timber from Hornsby Beekeeping Supplies.

The Ideal depth gives this box a lower profile than WSP or Full Depth equipment while retaining the traditional 10-frame width.

Premium New Zealand Pine

The box is manufactured from plantation-grown New Zealand radiata pine.

It uses finger-jointed corners and incorporates a cut-out handle.

Dimensions

  • Width: approximately 406mm
  • Depth/height: approximately 147mm
  • Timber thickness: 22mm

Lighter Honey-Super Format

Ideal supers are popular when the beekeeper wants to reduce the weight of each honey box.

A 10-frame Ideal still provides useful comb area, but the shallower frames hold less honey than a Full Depth equivalent.

This can make harvesting more comfortable.

DIY Assembly

The four panels need to be drilled and screwed together.

Check the box for square before the joints are fully tightened.

The unfinished timber should then be treated with linseed oil or a similar suitable product before extended outdoor exposure.

Match with Ideal Frames

Use 10-frame Ideal equipment with matching Ideal frames and foundation.

Keeping all parts within the same depth avoids poor bee space and irregular comb.
