JZ BZ Queen Bee Mailing Cages

Handle queen mailing and introduction work with JZ BZ Queen Bee Mailing Cages from Hornsby Beekeeping Supplies.

These JZ BZ-style cages are designed as a lightweight alternative to traditional wooden mailing cages and include practical features for queen handling and introduction.

Each cage is scented with pheromone to help support acceptance by the colony. Large communication holes allow contact with surrounding bees, while a generous hiding area provides space for the queen inside the cage.

Pheromone-Scented for Queen Introduction

The cages are scented with pheromone as part of their design.

This feature is intended to help the colony accept the queen during the introduction process.

Queen introduction needs to be managed carefully, and the cage provides a controlled way to keep the queen separated while contact with the colony can occur through the openings.

Large Communication Holes

Large communication holes are incorporated into the cage.

These openings allow contact between the queen and surrounding bees while she remains contained inside the cage.

This is an important part of the cage design because it supports communication without requiring the queen to be immediately released.

Generous Hiding Area

The cage provides a generous hiding area for the queen.

This gives her a protected section within the cage while it is being used for mailing or introduction work.

The combination of communication openings and hiding space makes the cage practical for controlled queen management.

Slim Design for Placement Between Frames

The thin profile makes the cage easier to fit between hive frames than bulkier cage designs.

This is particularly useful when space inside the brood box or nuc is limited and the cage needs to sit within the existing frame arrangement.

Lightweight Alternative to Wooden Cages

These cages are lighter than traditional wooden mailing cages.

There is also no need to work with screen and staples, simplifying preparation compared with cage styles that require additional assembly.
