Start a hive with equipment selected to support practical colony management from the beginning. The Deluxe Beehive Kit from Hornsby Beekeeping Supplies combines the core hive components needed for a functional setup with a mesh bottom base suited to integrated pest monitoring.

The Full Depth box is made from plantation-grown New Zealand radiata pine and comes assembled, wax dipped and painted. Above the colony, an assembled migratory lid combines a 10mm Weathertex board with a protective tin covering and four ventilation openings.

Designed Around Practical Hive Management

The kit also includes assembled and wired timber frames, tacked and glued with stainless steel spring wire. A wax-dipped mesh bottom base completes the setup and provides a useful foundation for monitoring Varroa mite drop and managing conditions around small hive beetles as part of a wider pest-management program.
