Prepare lightweight Ideal hive equipment your own way with this Unassembled Ideal Timber Frame from Hornsby Beekeeping Supplies. Made from plantation-grown New Zealand radiata pine, the frame arrives as four individual timber components ready for assembly.

Ideal frames are the shallowest of the common Langstroth frame depths stocked by Hornsby Beekeeping Supplies, making them particularly useful in matching Ideal honey supers.

Four-Piece Timber Frame

Each flat-pack frame includes one top bar, one bottom bar and two end bars. The side bars include two holes to support frame preparation.

Because the timber arrives unassembled, you can complete the joints, fastening and wiring process in your own workshop.

This format is particularly useful when preparing multiple spare frames during quieter months or when you prefer to control every stage of equipment assembly yourself.

Made for Ideal Hive Boxes

Ideal frames should be used with matching Ideal-depth hive boxes. They are shallower than WSP and Full Depth frames, so keeping the different sizes organised helps avoid accidentally placing the wrong frame into a super.

The smaller comb area can make Ideal supers attractive for honey production where lighter lifting is preferred.
