Australian-Made 10-Frame Aluminium Frame Spacer

Turn a standard 10-frame honey super into a carefully spaced nine-frame setup in seconds with the Australian-Made Aluminium Frame Spacer from Hornsby Beekeeping Supplies.

This tool is designed for honey supers where drawn comb is intentionally spaced farther apart after the bees have established the frames.

Space Nine Frames in a 10-Frame Box

Ten frames can fit tightly within a standard honey super.

Once comb has been properly drawn, some beekeepers remove one frame and use the extra space to distribute nine frames evenly across the box.

The spacer makes that positioning quick and consistent.

Encourage Wider Honey Comb

With more room between frame centres, bees can extend the comb farther out from the foundation.

This wider or “fat-framed” comb can make uncapping easier because more of the capped surface stands proud of the timber frame.

It can also reduce low areas that a straight uncapping knife may otherwise miss.

Useful for Cut Comb

Thicker honeycomb can also appeal to beekeepers producing cut-comb products.

The setup should be used thoughtfully and generally works best after the comb has first been drawn in a conventional arrangement.

Australian Aluminium Tool

The spacer is made in Australia from durable aluminium.

Aluminium does not rust and provides a rigid guide for repeated use.
