10-Frame Timber Base Risers

Create the entrance structure of your own 10-frame hive base with Timber Risers from Hornsby Beekeeping Supplies.

A riser sits above the bottom board and lifts the brood box enough to create a usable entrance for the colony.

Two height configurations are available to suit different traditional base setups.

3/8-Inch Riser Set

The 3/8-inch version includes three pieces of natural timber:

• Two side pieces
• One rear piece

This creates a lower entrance profile beneath the brood box.

1-Inch Riser Set

The 1-inch option includes four timber pieces:

• One entrance piece
• Two sides
• One back

This produces a taller 25mm-style base arrangement.

Choose the configuration that matches the base system you are building.

Unfinished Natural Timber

The risers are supplied as natural timber parts for DIY assembly.

Hornsby Beekeeping Supplies recommends treating the wood with linseed oil or a similar suitable product before extended outdoor exposure.

Correct treatment can help extend the working life of the lower hive components.

Match with a 10-Frame Bottom Board

Use these risers with a compatible 10-frame bottom board and 10-frame support cleats.

Once assembled square, the complete base should support the brood box evenly while providing an entrance across the front.

The riser can also be useful when repairing an existing base where the board and cleats remain serviceable.

Ready-to-Go Option Available
