8-Frame Full Depth Finger - Jointed Standard Timber Box

Build a practical 8-frame Full Depth hive body without moving into premium-grade timber with this Standard Finger-Jointed Box from Hornsby Beekeeping Supplies.

It uses plantation-grown New Zealand radiata pine and follows the same familiar flat-pack approach as other DIY hive boxes.

Standard-Grade Timber

The timber may display more natural features than premium-grade woodenware.

For working apiaries where cosmetic appearance is less important than function, this can provide a sensible alternative.

Finger-Jointed Corners

Interlocking finger joints connect the panels and create a strong corner structure when properly assembled.

A cut-out handle is incorporated for easier lifting.

Dimensions

  • Width: approximately 353mm
  • Depth: approximately 242mm
  • Timber thickness: 22mm

Full Depth 8-Frame Use

The box can be used as a brood chamber or deep honey super within a compatible 8-frame hive system.

Its narrower width keeps the box more manageable than a 10-frame equivalent, although Full Depth honey supers can still become heavy.

Finish Before Use

The flat-pack panels require drilling, screws and assembly.

Treat the wood with linseed oil or a similar suitable finish before long-term outdoor exposure.

Commercial quantities are available by enquiry.
