1½-Inch Threaded Plastic Honey Gate

Control honey flow from compatible buckets and processing equipment with a durable threaded plastic honey gate from Hornsby Beekeeping Supplies.

The product is offered in Australian and Italian versions, giving beekeepers a choice between two established styles used for honey handling and dispensing.

Two Honey Gate Options

Current buying options include:

  • Australian gate
  • Italian gate

The Australian version is made in Australia by Parker Engineering and is described as durable with a tight seal. The yellow Italian version is made by Quarti Italy and is the same style Quarti supplies on its extractors.

Both are designed for reliable honey dispensing when fitted correctly.

Suitable for Honey Buckets and Processing Equipment

A honey gate allows controlled dispensing without repeatedly tipping or lifting a full pail.

It can be useful for:

  • Honey settling buckets
  • Bottling pails
  • Extractor outlets where compatible
  • Honey transfer containers
  • Small-scale bottling setups

The 1½-inch threaded format should only be fitted to equipment with a compatible opening and installation arrangement.

Test the Seal Before Adding Honey

Correct installation is essential. Hornsby Beekeeping Supplies recommends testing the seal between the gate nut and bucket by filling the bucket with water before using it for honey.

This simple check can identify an installation leak before valuable honey is added.

When fitting:

  1. Position the gate correctly.
  2. Install the sealing components.
  3. Tighten evenly.
  4. Fill the container with water.
  5. Check around the rear seal for leakage.
  6. Re-adjust before using with honey if necessary.

Buying Options

  • Italian Quarti gate

Current stock status can vary between the two options.

Some work some don't

I bought several of these gates. Most work a treat but one of them leaks around the seal. No matter what I have done it still leaks. I have tried bigger seal, tightening nuts, inserting silicon into the O-ring where it is leaking but it does not stop the dripping.
