From the Workshop to Your Apiary

These assembled hive boxes are manufactured in the Hornsby Beekeeping Supplies factory using premium plantation-grown New Zealand radiata pine. The timber is 22mm thick, while finger-jointed corners provide a secure joining surface.

Rather than relying on nails or staples, each 8 frame bee box is assembled using 44 screws. This construction helps maintain firm corner joints through regular hive inspections and seasonal equipment handling.

After assembly, the timber is wax-dipped at approximately 180°C. It then receives one coat of primer and two coats of white paint, creating a finished bee box that can be placed into service without additional surface preparation.
