Heavy-Duty 10-Frame Metal Escape Board

Prepare a 10-frame honey super for removal with fewer bees using the Heavy-Duty Metal Escape Board from Hornsby Beekeeping Supplies.

Built from galvanised steel and wax dipped for additional durability, the board uses four metal escapes permanently riveted into position.

Make Harvest Day Easier

Place the board below the honey super with the metal escapes facing upward.

Bees move from the upper box down towards the brood nest but find it difficult to return through the escapes.

After roughly 24 hours under normal conditions, the super can usually be removed with substantially fewer bees present.

During colder weather, Hornsby recommends allowing around 48 hours.

Four Riveted Escapes

The four metal one-way escapes are fixed securely into the galvanised board.

This creates a complete ready-to-use clearer board rather than requiring the beekeeper to assemble individual escape components.

Galvanised and Wax Dipped

Galvanised steel provides a strong main structure, while wax dipping adds another layer of durability.

The board can therefore be stored and reused across multiple honey harvests.

Correct Orientation Matters

The escapes must face upward when installed beneath the super.

Once the honey box has been cleared, remove the board rather than leaving it indefinitely.

Given enough time, bees can learn routes back through many escape designs.
